Health scheme launched for rural kids in Uttar Pradesh under the National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) will focus on children in the age group of two to 18 years of age. The health programme is called 'Aasharvad Child Health Guarantee Scheme'. It will include regular health check ups, diagnosis and treatment of diseases etc. This will make available cheap and affordable health care for children living in rural and far flung areas. Aanganbari schools, juvenile reform homes, government schools, kids working in brick kilns and those belonging to families of gypsies --- all will be covered under this scheme. Also, the cost of treatment of a child afflicted by a serious disease would be borne by the government.

Smart cards have been issued which entitle the beneficiary and his immediate family to a treatment of up to Rs 30,000 per year. A part of insurance premium is also contributed jointly by the State and Central Governments. More than a thousand  pre-decided diseases and packages that need patient treatment are covered under this scheme.

Other health Programmes include National Iodine Deficiency Disorder Control Programme (NIDDCP) to encourage distribution of iodized edible salt. Iodine deficiency causes disorders such as miscarriage, cretinism, goitre, and retarded psychomotor development etc.

There are many Community Health Centres and Primary Health Centres to provide health care facilities to patients.
